Welcome to Episode #7 of the Written in Melanin Podcast.
One of the things that I've always been hesitant to do in the past is offer a negative opinion on a book written by a Black author. Because my platform is all about uplifting Black authors, I felt guilty if I ever wanted to give an author anything less than a glowing review because I know the obstacles they face are enough to deal with without feeling like other Black creators are trying to tear you down. But that's not healthy. Black creators should be able to critique the work of other Black creators without being seen as a crab in a bucket.
